Meet Sergey Kvasnyuk

What are three words your friends and colleagues would use to describe you?

I hope they would say I am “eager to please.”

What is your role in our commercial practice at MorganFranklin?

I am a Senior Manager focusing on Accounting & Transaction Services. I help my clients account for complex transactions, adopt new accounting standards, and make SEC filings, such as registration statements.

Please tell us about your professional background and what led you to pursue a career at MorganFranklin?

I started my career as an auditor with Ernst & Young. After a brief stint on the corporate side, I wanted to return to serving clients and working on a variety of projects. MorganFranklin provided a perfect opportunity to do just this. The past five years at MorganFranklin have been exactly what I expected.

What is unique about the culture here at MorganFranklin?

We are very entrepreneurial. People are not afraid to try something new – they are encouraged, in fact.

Also, it is rare to have the kind of access to the top management as MorganFranklin employees have.

You are one of our resident Revenue Recognition experts. How have you taken ownership of advancing your expertise at MorganFranklin?

When the new Revenue Recognition standard came out, everybody had to start learning it from scratch, so it provided a great opportunity. But, I could not have figured it out without great mentors and MorganFranklin management making the investment in my learning and development.

What characteristics and disciplines do you need to be successful in your role at MorganFranklin?

It is important to understand the client’s needs. For that, you need communication skills, especially listening for nuances and details that are not obvious. I know that is something I need to improve.

It also helps to be organized and good at time management, because we are often in situations that are complex and deadline-oriented.

Finally, critical thinking and research skills are very important for success here at MorganFranklin.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career at MorganFranklin?

The nature of consulting is such that our clients expect us to know what we are doing when we walk in the door. If you have developed a skill set that you believe meets the needs of finance and accounting departments, MorganFranklin is a great place to make a career of it.

What has been your most interesting client that you have worked with at MorganFranklin and why? (no specific client names)

My clients are like family members – I love all my clients equally.

If we hooked up your most ‘Recently Played’ music list in the office, what songs/artist would we hear?

Top 40 stuff, with some 90’s and Brazilian Jazz mixed in.
