D.C.-based consulting firm’s in-house Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary receives sought-after honor for in-house legal community members in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland.

The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) National Capital Region (NCR) named Eric Reicin Outstanding Chief Legal Officer at the 2016 Corporate Counsel Awards, which honor the work of the area’s leading in-house practitioners and departments over the past year. Reicin, who serves as Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary for the global organization MorganFranklin Consulting, LLC and its parent MorganFranklin, Inc., was chosen from a field of five finalists for Outstanding Chief Legal Officer. Created in 2005, the Corporate Counsel Awards have become a well-recognized and sought-after honor for members of the in-house legal community in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland.
Reicin was honored for playing a key role in completing MorganFranklin’s formulation and conversion from a founder majority-owned/management minority-owned company to an ESOP owned by an ESOP Trust. Throughout the complex preparations in executing the ESOP, Reicin led negotiations with three major banks in a club deal to provide the financing for the transaction. He also led negotiations among management, founders, and the ESOP Trustee while deftly working with advisory firms, internal equity plan participants, third-party plan administrators, bank counsel, company founders and founder counsel, valuation company counsel, and trustee’s counsel. In addition, Reicin was integrally involved in the company’s growth through providing valuable legal and strategic expertise during the launch of MorganFranklin’s Corporate Investigations & Dispute Solutions practice, negotiating the lease for and then planning and executing the firm’s December 2015 headquarters move to a new state-of-the-art trophy space in Tysons, and securing an excellent location for the company’s Southeast Regional Office expansion in Atlanta.

A longtime advocate for the rise of the in-house bar, Reicin joined MorganFranklin in 2013 as the firm’s first general counsel, insourcing the legal function and building the Legal & Contracts department from the ground up. He is extremely active in the legal community as well as the charitable community, currently serving as 2017 Chair of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Lawyers Have Heart 10K/5K, which is now the largest 10K race in the Washington, D.C., area and the premier athletic philanthropic charitable event led by the D.C. legal community.
